When you are answering the Privacy Policy questionnaire, you will need to answer the "what personal information do you collect" question. Personal information is generally defined as any information that could identify a person or that relates to an identified person. Common examples of personal information include:
- Name;
- Email address;
- Physical address;
- Phone number;
- IP address.
We recommend that you take a look at your website while filling out this answer. Websites commonly collect personal information through the following means:
- Contact us forms;
- Email newsletter sign up forms;
- Account sign up forms;
- Analytics services such as Google Analytics.
Once you know what personal information your website collects, select the items by clicking on them. You can also use the search bar to search by specific piece of personal information (e.g. name) or by category (e.g. identifying information). If you do not see a specific piece of personal information that you collect on the list provided, you can always click "other" and input your selection. We have labeled the most common pieces of personal information that our customers' websites collect with the label "popular."
Depending on what privacy laws apply to you, you may need to provide additional context on how you use and share the personal information that you collect. In that case, you will need to click the "edit" button next to each of your selections to provide that additional context.
