What's happening with privacy laws in the US:

Because the US does not currently have a federal privacy law, individual states are taking privacy into their own hands with their own privacy rights for its residents. Like all privacy laws, these laws can apply to businesses outside of their state, with many of these proposed laws applying to businesses of any size too.

There are currently over a dozen state-specific privacy bills in the US that, if passed, will require respective businesses to make updates to their Privacy Policy.

Why is this an Optional Upgrade:

Because these bills have not passed, there are currently no requirements to make any new disclosures.
