Geolocation not working with WordPress plugin

Modified on Thu, 15 Jan at 4:21 PM

The Termageddon plugin offers a geolocation feature, where you can select who to display the consent solution to, based on their location (state, country, region, etc).

"We were unable to download the database necessary for geolocation to your website. If you would like to use geolocation, please contact support for assistance and troubleshooting."

If you see the following error message, it is likely that the third party provider of data (Maxmind) may have had a momentary disruption.

To resolve this issue:

1. Go to your wp-admin area, go to "Tools" -> "Termageddon + Usercentrics" -> "Geolocation" -> (enable it) -> then select/enable "Enable location logging" and click 'save settings'.  This will perform a hard reset request and should help get the database loaded properly.

2. Go to the settings tab of the Termageddon plugin. Now click into the url, and where it says "tab=settings" (at the end of the url), change this to "tab=admin" (so you are replacing "settings" with "admin"). On this hidden page, change the Error Count to 0 and click Save Changes. This will help reset the error code and rerun the database scan.

3. If this does not resolve this issue, try disabling the 'enable location logging' feature (on the Geolocation tab) and then repeat step #2.

4. If this does not help, please contact us and provide us the URL in question and we will help you troubleshoot this issue further.
