Usercentrics released Version 3 of their consent solution, improving page load speed and opening up full css styling.
Version 3 is also required if you are wanting to set up compatibility with Microsoft’s recent changes (from late 2024) for passing consent choices properly for Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft UET.
NOTE: Version 3 is in Beta primarily for one reason: when testing, we noticed that when changes are made to the consent solution (such as adding/removing Services, changing the layout, and/or changing the default copy), that extensive caching occurs where it may take some time for these changes to be reflected when testing, even in a fresh incognito window. We believe this is likely due to changes Usercentrics has made to their script in order to improve page load speed. We have reported this concern to Usercentrics and they are looking further into it. Testing on separate devices may be necessary when wanting to immediately review changes you make to the Cookie Policy and Consent Tool questionnaire. We believe these caching changes are related to the page speed improvements which ultimately is a good thing, however it can cause challenges when doing initial testing.
How to set up Version 3:
Within your account (https://app.termageddon.com), click into your license and visit the ‘view embed code’ page of your Cookie Policy and Consent Tool. Here, you will see your Usercentrics consent script:
Replace the highlighted URL with the Version 3 URL:
So you replace this:
With this Version 3 URL:
Now your embed code will look like this:
Use this new embed code and paste it into the <head> of your website (replacing the old embed code if it was previously pasted into the website).
That’s it. As a reminder, we noticed when testing that changes may take some time to be reflected, especially when using one device when testing. Once Usercentrics is able to improve this, we will replace Version 2 with Version 3 as the default embed code. But for the time being we hope this helps. After waiting ~1 hour for changes to take effect, if you are still experiencing an issue, please let us know so that we can properly communicate any issues with Usercentrics.
