Why do we recommend displaying the consent tool to website visitors from Florida?

Modified on Tue, 21 Jul at 4:40 PM

As of mid-2026, we noticed that a small minority of website owners have received demand letters alleging non-compliance with the Florida Security Communications Act, as well as other consumer protection laws in Florida.

The claim that these attorneys are making is that the website tracked them (the website visitor) prior to the website visitor providing consent to do so.

As a precautionary measure, we have added “Florida” as an option to enable when utilizing the Termageddon geolocation feature.  That way, the consent tool will display to website visitors from Florida.
