Charging disbursements or taxes in addition to your fee means that the client will be billed for extra costs that are either out of pocket expenses that you have incurred (as the lawyer) or sales taxes that you are legally required to collect. Examples of additional disbursements or taxes may include court filing fees, expert witness fees, fees for making transcripts or copies, VAT charges or GST charges.
