Bulk update for 2026 CTDPA amendments (Connecticut)

Modified on Thu, 28 May at 2:34 PM

Connecticut has changed its qualifiers on whether or not its amended law (CTDPA) applies to a website owner. Additionally, if this law applies, website owners may have new additional disclosures to make within their Privacy Policies.

For the CTDPA to now apply, the website owner has to be a for-profit, has to do business in Connecticut, has to collect the personal information of residents of Connecticut, and has to meet at least one of the following conditions:

  1. Annually control or process the personal information of 35,000 or more residents of Connecticut;

  2. Control or process the sensitive personal information of residents of Connecticut; or

  3. Sell the personal information of residents of Connecticut.

For the majority of our customers, this is the bulk update that Termageddon performed:

  1. Do you annually control or process the personal information of 35,000 or more residents of Connecticut? No

  2. Do you control or process the sensitive personal information of residents of Connecticut? No

  3. Do you sell the personal information of residents of Connecticut? No

However:

  1. If you previously selected “Yes” to the previous question “Do you process the personal information of over 100,000 residents of Connecticut?”, then we applied the answer ‘yes’ to the new question “Do you annually control or process the personal information of 35,000 or more residents of Connecticut?”.

  2. If you previously selected “Yes” to the previous question “Do you derive 25% or more of your revenue from selling the personal information of residents of Connecticut?”, then we applied the answer ‘yes’ to the new question “Do you sell the personal information of residents of Connecticut?”.

*Note: if you have ‘incomplete’ or 'new coverage available' in any other areas of your questionnaire, you should update those sections as well (although this is not related to this particular Connecticut update).
