• The right to opt out of the use of personal information for the purpose of profiling in furtherance of decisions that could produce a legal or similarly significant effect concerning the individual; 

• The right to question the result of profiling; 

• The right to be informed of the reason that profiling resulted in the decision; 

• The right to review the personal information that was used in the profiling; 

• If the decision concerning housing was made through profiling and it is determined to have been based upon inaccurate personal information, the right to have that information corrected and the profiling decision reevaluated based upon the corrected personal information; 

• The right to obtain a list of the specific third parties to whom their personal information has been sold; 

• The right to not be discriminated against based upon the exercise of privacy rights. 

VDPOSA provides these rights to residents of Vermont only. However, some entities may want to provide these rights to every website or application visitor as doing so can: 

• Prevent the work inherent in confirming the individual’s place of residence when they request to exercise their privacy rights; 

• Reduce the confusion of individuals as to what privacy rights apply to them;
