After you activate and generate your Cookie Policy and cookie consent solution, you will need to add the newly generated embed codes to your website.
Cookie Policy:
Adding the Cookie Policy embed code is just like all other policies that Termageddon provides. Create a Cookie Policy page, insert the embed code into the body of the page (often done with an 'html' or 'embed code' block) and publish the page. Be sure to offer a hyperlink to your Cookie Policy within the footer of your website.
Cookie consent solution (powered by Usercentrics):
The Usercentrics consent solution, however, is an embed code that will need to be inserted into the <head> section of your website. Be sure to place the consent script as high up in the <head> as possible to ensure the cookie consent solution can manage all other scripts that load before it. If you have a web developer or agency you work with, we recommend you ask them for a quote to add this feature to ensure it is properly added to your website.
Testing and troubleshooting guide
Testing is an essential step to ensure the third party scripts embedded into your website are properly communicating with your consent solution. Usercentrics offers several ways of doing this, including their auto-blocker feature, as well as their manual script control feature (see below).
Watch this video to learn more about how to test the consent solution:
Manual script control - You can also add control of third party scripts by inserting the following into the third party scripts:
Replace "XXX" with the respective service, such as "Google Analytics". The name of the Service that replaces 'XXX' should exactly match the respective name of the Service within your Termageddon questionnaire (within your license click 'edit' for the Cookie Policy and Consent Tool, and scroll down to see the list of Services to view their exact names). This manual control helps connect the respective script to the respective Service and ensures the script will only fire after a user provides consent (with the assumption you have the script to be off by default).
Loading tags via Google Tag Manager
If you are loading tags via Google Tag Manager, you will need to set up compatibility with Google's Consent Mode feature. Usercentrics is a Google Certified Consent Management Platform, and the instructions within that document will help you successfully set up that compatibility.
